Message from the President

Dr. Laurie Joyner

Dear ³Ô¹ÏÁÔÆæ Community:

This year, we celebrate the legacy of the Sisters of Mercy at Saint Xavier by honoring the 200th birthday of Mother Agatha O'Brien, the first superior of the Sisters of Mercy in Chicago and Saint Xavier's first directress. Mother O'Brien, alongside Mother Frances Xavier Warde and four other Sisters, answered the call and established Saint Xavier's legacy of educational excellence in 1846.

As we enter this season of renewal, our community of doers is reminded that such tenacity and forward thinking bear magnificent fruit. As you will see in the stories below, Saint Xavier continues our tradition of excellent academic offerings and meaningful student support. Together, we are advancing the legacy of the Sisters of Mercy embodied through the life and works of Mother Agatha O'Brien.

We call all doers to honor the legacy of the Sisters of Mercy and to celebrate Mother Agatha O'Brien's 200th birthday by participating in this year's Mission Day and We Are ³Ô¹ÏÁÔÆæ Day on Wednesday, March 23. Be on the lookout for information on how you can show your appreciation and serve the community.

Sincerely,

Laurie M. Joyner, Ph.D.
President
