³Ô¹ÏÁÔÆæ's Peter N. Kirstein to Speak at DePaul College of Law on November 2
³Ô¹ÏÁÔÆæ (³Ô¹ÏÁÔÆæ) Department of History Professor Peter N. Kirstein will speak at DePaul College of Law on Wednesday, November 2 at 5:30 p.m. The Multicultural Law Student Association, and International Human Rights Law Institute in conjunction with the Arab American Bar Association of Illinois is sponsoring a panel on "Combating Hate Speech: Speak Peace, Not Hate."
Kirstein will address the academic freedom challenges that pertain to progressive instruction on the Middle East for both professors and students. He will demonstrate that during periods of international tension, universities frequently yield to systemic pressure to reflect a growing ethnocentrism and xenophobia.
Other panelists are Judge William Haddad (ret.) Circuit Court of Cook County and Vivian Khalaf, immigration attorney.
